Correcto | WIG201 | Released: 11/06/08
Correcto is a collection of melodic and infectious post-punk pop songs from the Scottish indie supergroup led by Danny Saunders on vocals and formed of Patrick Doyle from The Royal We on bass, artist Richard Wright on guitar and Franz Ferdinand’s Paul Thomson on drums.
First single, "Joni" is an instant classic which will have you singing along in no time. The track was written by Danny before dashing out the door, his brain fizzing with "Substitute" by the Who, guilt and TV show I’m Celebrity Get Me Out Of here (‘I would eat a fish eye, to have you by my side’). "Do It Better", is a punchy 2 and a half minute sing-a-long anthem inspired by the numbing effects of going about everyday business - trying to do the best you can - yet never quite achieving what you set out to do that particular day. "Save Your Sorrow" and "Even Though" show a more gentle and contemplative side to the band.
Inspired by the mundane, the fantastical, mawkish behaviour and hangovers; the result is an LP of necessarily direct and unhampered songs, which are somehow familiar yet humanly original swipes at modern pop music.
