Cass McCombs | WIG194 | Released: 29/09/07
Cass McCombs releases his new album, entitled ‘Dropping The Writ’ on Monday the 4th of February 2008, his first release for long time fans Domino.
Dropping The Writ is arguably Cass’s most beautiful record, musically alternating between mania and wonder, within a song-form that McCombs continues to expand upon lyrically, often with the humorous, wry use of stories plucked directly from his own life experience.
Cass, whose earlier recordings (including albums A and PREfection) were released by 4AD, has written all songs on Dropping The Writ. The album was recorded at Hot Pie Studios and Die Sect in Pasadena, California.
McCombs’ phonograph recordings and live performances include the participation of talented musicians, whose credits boasts contributions to other acts including Deefhoof, The Curtains, The Papercuts, Foreign Born, The Fall, Casiotone For The Painfully Alone, The Double, The Oxes, Arbouretum, Triangle, Gang Gang Dance, Mt. Egypt, Darker My Love, The Donkeys, White Magic and All Night Radio.
