LIVE FROM A SHARK CAGE

Invoking the mystery of the pastoral through a range of repeated instrumental peccadilloes, this album definitely signifies another level of artistic progression for David Pajo. A lot of it reminds me of a lush John Fahey-- the gorgeously intricate and naive rawness of Pajo's hypnotic plucking of strings in the augmented key of huh? combined with a carefully-chosen multi-instrumental vocabulary and the atmospherics of found sounds and voices. The voices work especially well on a very creepy track that indicates the outlines of a tragic story through a series of unsettling phone messages left on an answering machine.
