Twin Sister | 26/07/10

Twin Sister have just announced their first UK live shows for November. The hypnotic, blogosphere favourites from Long Island will perform at the Brighton Albert, Leeds Brudenell and at the Lexington in London on November 25th.
The US five-piece will tour the UK as follows:
Tuesday 23rd November: Brighton – Prince Albert
Wednesday 24th November: Leeds - Brudenell
Thursday 25th November: London - Lexington
Twin Sister’s debut EP, Vampires With Dreaming Kids, and its follow up EP, Color Your Life, will both be released in the UK on 6th September 2010 on double CD and 2 x vinyl Gatefold. This is the first physical release of their debut and the first ever UK release of Color Your Life.
Twin Sister create the kind of hypnotic pop you've been dreaming about since Galaxie 500 fizzled, cut with Tusk-era Fleetwood Mac thump, and a shot of Lynchian weirdness for good measure. They're slack yet focused, a spark in the dark distance on a desert highway where speed is relative. Formed in Long Island two years ago, the band has lately been wooing fans and critics alike, with glowing (multiple!) write ups in Pitchfork, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, Fader, and dozens more.

The Count and Sinden | 22/07/10

After Dark (16th August 2010) is the highly infectious first single taken from The Count & Sinden’s much anticipated forthcoming debut LP, Mega Mega Mega (23rd August).
After Dark is a collaboration between The Count (aka Hervé) & Sinden and indie mavericks, Mystery Jets, featuring lead vocals from William Rees. Neighbours who became friends, the Mystery Jets DJed at the Count & Sinden’s notorious Mega Mega Mega club nights, and always talked about somehow combining forces. This is what Will from Mystery Jets said about their collaboration:
‘We teamed up with Hervé and Sinden to create a devastating slice of Afrobeat from the valleys of Saturn via the Congo.... There’s no stopping these men with their bongos! Whether you love it or hate it, this beat will be tearing the cubicle out of the loo before you've managed to get your trousers down. BE AFRAID!’
"After Dark" is an anthem in the making, a track so addictive, it makes you want to throw your hands in the air and worship the summer. It’s a perfect introduction to the duo’s album, Mega Mega Mega - an authentically British album jam-packed full of tunes for a party loving generation; a record which is unapologetically honest, playful and hedonistic.

Various Artists | 20/07/10
Domino is thrilled to announce that two of our albums have been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize 2010. Last year’s sublime Two Dancers from the Lake District’s Wild Beasts and the recently released Becoming a Jackal from Dublin-based Villagers are amongst the twelve albums shortlisted for this year’s prize.
WILD BEASTS - TWO DANCERS
Wild Beasts’ second album, Two Dancers, was released last summer to exceptional critical acclaim. Wild Beasts made a record of earthly pleasures that sounded thrillingly widescreen, open and in awe of life; equally intoxicated and disturbed by the possibilities of pleasure. Two Dancers is a streamlined, minimalist and user friendly Wild Beasts, moving with equal grace and gusto, equally elegant and ugly. A "5 star" review in the Sunday Times, features in NME, MOJO, Uncut and a "Number 1 Album of the Year" plus cover of The Fly have proven the band’s wide appeal and steadily growing fanbase. The four-piece has recently performed heroic sets at Glastonbury, the i-tunes festival, Latitude and Lovebox, and are soon to play Kendal Calling, Green Man, Leeds / Reading and Bestival, before they start working on their much anticipated third LP.
VILLAGERS - BECOMING A JACKAL
Villagers are Conor J. O’ Brien and friends, who won over many hearts with their debut Becoming a Jackal, released in spring this year. Becoming a Jackal introduced us to Villagers’ vivid narratives, gripping poetry and melodic depth. Conor J. O’Brien’s clear and distinctive voice weaves a remarkable spell, delivering an album of rare and alarming beauty. Having already headlined a tour of the UK and performed with the likes of Neil Young and Tindersticks, you will be able to catch Villagers live at the Edinburgh Edge Festival, Big Chill, Leeds/ Reading and Bestival. They will also be performing two very special and now sold out shows on the 4th and 5th of August, as the first live act ever to play the Tunnels under the Old Vic Theatre in London. A headline performance at the Scala has just been confirmed for the 5th October. The stunning "Ship Of Promises" will be released as the next single on 2nd August.
She & Him | 19/07/10
Following the release of their much acclaimed second LP, Volume Two, She & Him released Thieves on 5th July. Thieves, the gorgeous sugar-sweet album opener, is available via digital download (DS029D), with the original She & Him composition ‘I Knew It Would Happen This Way’ on the b-side .
She & Him recently wowed British audiences with a clutch of shows, including sold out dates at Koko, Shepherd’s Bush Empire and as special guests of Matt Groening at All Tomorrow’s Parties.

Chief | 12/07/10
"Night & Day" is one of the standout tracks from Chief's forthcoming debut Modern Rituals. The gentlemen of Chief have just wrapped up a video to accompany the song, which is now available for your viewing pleasure.
"Night & Day" is overflowing with West Coast sunshine and charm, with a sweeping, fiercely infectious chorus and lyrics full of romantic yearning.
Modern Rituals is also available now for pre-order from the Domino Mart. It will be out on CD, LP and digital from all of your favorite spots on August 20th.
Tricky | 09/07/10
"Murder Weapon", released on 30th August 2010, is the addictive first single taken from Tricky’s forthcoming ninth studio album, Mixed Race. Recorded in Paris, where Tricky currently lives, Mixed Race will be available from 27th September and is Tricky’s most direct album to date.
"Murder Weapon" is a reworking of the classic dancehall hit from Jamaican-born Echo Minott, originally released in the early ‘90s. Tricky first fell in love with the track when someone sang it to him as he walked into a shop, and has been obsessed with it ever since. He was determined to hear how it would sound with a female vocalist (in a similar fashion to his reworking of Black Steel with Martina Topley-Bird). Tricky here enrols Irish-Italian Franky Riley, who has toured as Tricky’s vocalist for two years and makes her recording debut on this album.
"Murder Weapon" will be available on 7” (RUG376) and via digital download (RUG376D). The full tracklisting will be announced shortly.
Listen to "Murder Weapon":
Tricky will be performing at the following festivals in the UK, with a headline tour TBA for the autumn:
