JOB DESCRIPTION:   Controller -- Finance And Operations

Working in our Brooklyn office and reporting directly to the group’s UK Finance Director, this role will support the creative teams, taking full responsibility for all commercial and financial related matters.  Working closely with the General Managers of the Recording and Publishing companies, you will be assisting with the delivery of the Company’s financial and operational objectives.

We envisage the successful applicant will be a hands-on financial/accounting/operations professional with very strong communication skills, able to build good working relationships in a very creative environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing financial and commercial support to the senior managers of the US group, ensuring the delivery of the Company’s objectives;

  • Direct and coordinate accounting operations including accounts payable, general ledger, accounts receivable, collections, tax compliance, banking and cash management;

  • Define and complete the businesses short and long term financial budgets and forecasts alongside each General Manager. Monitor and analyse performance against these targets, providing feedback and ensuring appropriate actions are taken;

  • Ensure that all reporting requirements, internal and external are complied with at all times to a high level of accuracy;

  • Ensure the collection of debts remains up to date and provide assistance in recovering problem accounts;

  • Provide support and train the creative teams in evaluating opportunities from a financial perspective taking into account profitability;

  • Provide support to the group’s senior management team on any other tasks as required from time to time.  

The main focus of the role will include:

  • Annual budgeting for the US group;

  • Business and financial planning and forecasting;

  • Management reporting – Quarterly & Annually;

  • Meeting the businesses statutory reporting requirements;

  • KPI analysis, sales projections;

  • General accounting duties – overseeing the credit control function;

  • Ad hoc project.

Who we are looking for

Ideally the successful applicant will have the following skill set:

  • Extensive financial experience, able to demonstrate increasing responsibility within a medium sized organisation;

  • Experience within the music business preferred;

  • Strong analytical background;

  • Strong attention to detail;

  • Very strong interpersonal skills. An ability to communicate at senior management level;

  • Advanced Excel skills, including the use of pivot and lookup tables.
