Following its worldwide premiere on Radio 1, we are pleased to announce the first release from Domino’s latest signing - multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter, Georgia

Built on a truly monstrous rhythm section, ‘Move Systems’ (released as a single on 25th May 2015), is a frenetic,  forceful and hugely imaginative track – offering as much cerebral charm as it does pure physical impact in the way it channels elements of early 00’s grime, dub, post-punk and hip hop into a genuinely new-sounding, globally minded brand of pop. The accompanying video, directed by Rollo Jackson (Hot Chip, Angel Haze, Danny Brown), is available to view now below.

Born and raised in north west London, the last few years have seen Georgia steadily establish herself as an important fixture in the city's most singular and imaginative artistic circles, playing drums for Kwes and Kate Tempest among others before emerging as an irresistible creative force in her own right with last year's Come In EP.

Newly signed to Domino, Georgia is currently putting the final touches to her debut album which she entirely wrote, performed and self-produced - details of which will be announced soon.

Georgia will be performing live at this year’s The Great Escape in Brighton on May 15th, and as a special guest of Kelela at XOYO on May 26th. Further dates are to be announced.

Patrick Watson | 24/03/15

Image: Patrick Watson Love Songs For Robots

Following a launch with The Fader, you can now listen to Patrick Watson’s ‘Places You Will Go’, the latest track to be taken from Love Songs for Robots, his highly anticipated fifth record which will be released on May 11th.

Love Songs For Robots is the follow-up to 2012’s Adventures In Your Own Backyard, which received widespread critical acclaim— Consequence of Sound calls it “Larger than life,” while Q Magazine hails “Sublime,” and Uncut adds “Confidently ambitious.”

The new music was recorded at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles and Pierre Marchand Studio in Montreal. Of the record, some of which was debuted at private concerts in small loft spaces, Watson explains:

“I wanted to make a science fiction R’n’ B meets Vangelis erotica with a zest of folk kind of record.” It was only halfway through writing the record when the artist found himself having, by his own submission, “a bad year” did more personal themes begin to creep in.

“I started thinking about how emotional reactions were more mechanical than we think and the only thing left between us and artificial intelligence is the act of inspiration. Just food for thought.”

Now approaching a decade as a band, it has been a truly interesting journey for Patrick Watson. While the man shines when composing over 15 scores for both film and television, Patrick Watson, Robbie Kuster (drums/percussions), Mishka Stein (bass) and most recently Joe Grass (guitars) accomplished such feats as playing to over 100,000 people at the 2009 Montreal Jazz Festival, receiving Canada’s elite Polaris Music Prize in 2007, performing in front of a full orchestra in 2011 in Amsterdam and again in their hometown of Montreal in 2013, and most recently performing two songs in Wim Wenders’s current 3D epic “Every Thing Will Be Fine”.

Patrick Watson will be on tour in May, including a date at London’s Bush Hall on May 11th. Full dates below:

Image: Villagers Darling Arithmetic announce

Following on from ‘Courage’, the heartrending first single from Villagers’ forthcoming album Darling Arithmetic, Conor O’Brien is proud to share a second listen from the album, in the form of the soulful ‘Hot Scary Summer’, which rakes over the break-up of a love affair blighted by “all the pretty young homophobes looking out for a fight”. The Bohicas | 10/03/15

Image: Bohicas Residency

After tearing through their homeland on the ‘Swarm Over Essexxx’ tour and impressing as guests to Royal Blood and Drenge, The Bohicas can now announce details of their first ever London residency. They’ll hit The Deep Hum At The Heart Of It All club night at The Social on four consecutive Wednesdays throughout April, with shows on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th, alongside special guests and Domino DJs.

The Bohicas are four young men from Essex and the east London borderlands making ambitious and arresting rock 'n' rollAfter introducing themselves to the world last year with the tracks XXX’ and ‘Swarm’, their current single ‘To Die For’ continues to snap up disparate elements from the history of guitar music and forge them into something urgent and re-energised.

The Bohicas are putting the finishing touches on their upcoming debut album which will be released later this year. The quartet are also set to play the following headline shows and festivals in the summer:

14th – 15th – Brighton, The Great Escape

21st – Cambridge, Portland Arms

22nd – Nottingham, Bodega

25th – Liverpool Sound City, Baltic Stage

26th – Sheffield, The Harley

27th – Glasgow, King Tuts

28th – Newcastle, Cluny

1st – Cardiff, Clwb Ifor Bach

2nd – Bristol, Louisiana

3rd – Southampton, Joiners

6th – Birmingham, The Rainbow

7th – Leeds, Brudenell Social Club

8th – Manchester, Soup Kitchen

1st – Penrith, Kendal Calling

5th – Portmerion, Festival No. 6

Frontman Dominic McGuinness isn’t big on labelling their approach within the confines of genre. You know when you go to see a great film at the cinema and come out of it feeling like you're the lead character, walking down the street like the Fonz or De Niro?” he questions. “I want people listening to our band to feel like that"

“People ask what sort of music we make, but if I say rock ‘n’ roll they instantly think of the fifties,” adds guitarist Dominic John. It’s the same starting point in terms of the energy behind it, but it’s not referential and it’s really not about looking back. It’s seeing that danger and energy, but taking it somewhere else.
