Sam Dust, AKA LA PRIEST has shared the video for “Oino”, the previously-revealed first track from the artist’s new project for Domino.
The video was shot by Dust’s brother, director Isaac Eastgate, during the pair’s travels recently and was “inspired by a story our grandad told us about a man imprisoned in the desert who escapes by singing to a wizard”, according to the artist.
Having previously used the moniker for a 12" release on Erol Alkan's Phantasy label in 2007, ‘Oino’, Dust's new single, is the first material to surface from the artist since the hiatus of Late Of The Pier, his previous band, in 2009.
Sam Dust spent much of his time after 2010 in Greenland, studying the effects of the Ivittuut region's electro-magnetic phenomena on recorded sound, and producing more than five secret uncredited projects - some of which have already trickled out into the world to public acclaim.
Evoking the disruptive pop spirit of musicians like David Byrne, Prince, Arthur Russell or Aphex Twin, Dust's revived LA PRIEST project once again sets him apart as a true outlying original. ‘Oino’ marks the beginning of this long over-due re-emergence and is just a glimpse of the gloriously alluring hole in the fabric of the universe he's torn for himself.
LA PRIEST will be performing live at The Great Escape in Brighton (14th – 16th May) with further dates to be announced.
On 9 March, Richmond, Virginia-based singer, bandleader and modern soul visionary Matthew E. White will release Fresh Blood, the follow-up to the critically acclaimed debut Big Inner. Produced by White and Spacebomb partner Trey Pollard and mixed by Pat Dillett (David Byrne, Nile Rodgers), Fresh Blood is now streaming in its entirety via NPR.
Featuring the effortlessly cool and highly addictive single 'Rock & Roll Is Cold', as well as the touching Phillip Seymour-Hoffman tribute 'Tranquility', Fresh Blood is described as "less of an album, more of a grand seduction" in a 4/5 review by Q.
To celebrate the release of the album, Matthew will be performing a special, stripped back show at a sold-out St. Luke's in London on 10 March. A full band headline tour in support of the record will take place in April, including a show at VillageUnderground on 20 April.
Fresh Blood will be available on CD (WIGCD309), vinyl (WIGLP309) and via digital download (WIG309D). There is also a special edition of the album, which is a double LP gatefold heavyweight vinyl (WIGLP309X) containing a bonus LP titled Fresh Blood: No Skin – a full length minimalist mix of the entire album. You can pre-order Fresh Blood via iTunes and DomMart.

Super Furry Animals return to active service this spring with a deluxe 15th anniversary reissue of their long out-of-print album Mwng and a series of hugely anticipated UK gigs – their first since 2009.
Originally released in 2000 on the band’s own Placid Casual label (between deals with Creation and Sony), the Super Furries career-defining fourth album Mwng was the band’s only Welsh language long player. It reached Number 11 in the UK album charts and was their highest selling record globally up to that point. It remains the biggest selling Welsh language album of all time. On its original release, the record was praised in an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons for its significant part in promoting the language and culture of Wales. You can listen to ‘Ymaelodi Â'r Ymylon’ from the album HERE
Not only is 2015 the 15th anniversary of Mwng’s release and the 20th anniversary of the band’s first gigs (and the release of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch (In Space), the band’s first EP).
Mwng will be re-released on a Friday (May 1st, International Worker’s Day). The reissue comes in several formats. Deluxe editions (vinyl, CD and download) contain five tracks previously released on the US version of Mwng under the name Mwng Bach as well as a previously unreleased Peel session and a full live show recorded at ATP. The album is available to pre-order from Domino and from iTunes. Pre-orders of the physical album from Domino will receive a download of the standard album immediately.
Super Furry Animals will play their first gigs since December 2009 in the week that Mwng is reissued. The band play:

From Scotland With Love, which featured in The Sunday Times, Loud & Quiet and MOJO’s year-end lists and which critics described as ‘a lovingly crafted thing’ (Independent on Sunday) and ‘consistently superb’ (Loud & Quiet – 9/10), was created in collaboration with director Virginia Heath and Producer Grant Keir as an audio-accompaniment to a poetic documentary film of the same name. Featuring archive footage from the National Library of Scotland Scottish Screen Archive, but no narration or interview, the film works around themes of love and loss, war, resistance, emigration, work and play, and is driven as much by the music as it is the images. For the first time King Creosote found himself being able to write from other people’s perspectives. The result is From Scotland With Love, one of King Creosote’s most widescreen cinematic and finest pieces of work to date. From Scotland With Love is available now through Dom Mart, and iTunes, with an extended version available HERE.
The upbeat ‘frantic jazz-polka’track,‘Largs’ (as described in Uncut magazine), will be released as the next single on 2nd March 2015. Listen to ‘Largs’, HERE.
Love Songs For Robots, the highly anticipated fifth record from Patrick Watson, will be released on May 11th via Domino. Love Songs For Robots is the follow up to Watson’s 2012 release Adventures In Your Own Backyard, which received widespread critical acclaim— Consequence of Sound calls it “Larger than life,” while Q Magazine hails “Sublime,” and Uncut adds “Confidently ambitious.”
Listen to the title track from the album below now. In addition, Watson just released a teaser for the album, which includes the track ‘In Circles,’ watch HERE.
The new music was recorded at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles and Pierre Marchand Studio in Montreal. Of the record, some of which was debuted at private concerts in small loft spaces, Watson explains,
“I started thinking about things in a very mechanical way. I found it interesting how we would use our senses to come up with an emotional reaction. As I get older you get to know yourself better and I realized that a lot of my emotional reactions were mechanical responses and that was hugely influential. I didn’t want to be a robot. But the reason why we are superior to computers is that we have emotions and I realized that emotions are mechanical so the only thing left between us and robots is curiosity and inspiration - and I don’t think you can program that into a computer. That’s definitely where I was at when I started writing the record.”
Raised and still living in Montreal, Watson has composed 15 scores for both film and television, including a trailer for The Walking Dead and Wim Wenders’ new 3D film Everything Will Be Fine, where he performed the songs ‘Cynical World’ (an original for the film) and ‘Lighthouse’. The recipient of Canada’s elite Polaris Music Prize in 2007, Watson composes, performs and records his albums with a full band that includes Joe Grass (guitars), Robbie Kuster (drums/percussion) and Mishka Stein (bass).
Patrick Watson will be on tour in May, including a date at London’s Bush Hall on May 11th. Full dates below:

Bandleader and soul visionary Matthew E. White has shared a video for 'Rock & Roll Is Cold', the first full single from Fresh Blood, his new album for Domino coming on 9 March 2015.
The beautifully shot clip follows Matthew as he traverses various semi-surreal terrains, ultimately embarking on a joyride to an exquisite banquet in a video that's as playful and charming as the tune itself.
Speaking of the video, Matt had this to say: "This video was about highlighting and making use of pre-existing beauty and grandeur. The images I wanted were John Ford's America - part Badlands, part Bonnie and Clyde.
To that end, I used a team in Salt Lake City known much more for shooting spectacular outdoor shots than any music videos. That was really fresh for me, not to mention extraordinarily physically challenging at times - but these guys are world traveling, mountain climbing pros and brought out the tremendous beauty of the landscape we shot in.
Not to mention the extraordinary beauty of my lady, Miss Merry George. Mirroring the family involvement of the Fresh Blood album cover (shot at my Grandma’s house in Alabama) the final scene of this was shot at my Aunt’s house. It’s nice to keep the family involved when you can."
Matthew's special solo show at St. Luke's on 10 March 2015 is sold out. Full band shows for April 2015 are detailed below.
Fresh Blood will be available on CD (WIGCD309), vinyl (WIGLP309) and via digital download (WIG309D). There is also a special edition of the album, which is a double LP gatefold heavyweight vinyl (WIGLP309X) containing a bonus LP titled Fresh Blood: No Skin – a full length minimalist mix of the entire album, minus strings/horns or choir. You can pre-order Fresh Blood via iTunes or DomMart.

Bob Moses, the duo comprised of Jimmy Vallance and Tom Howie, release All In All, a collection of their previously released singles. The 11 songs on All In All encompass the duo’s output to date, combining their 2 previous EP releases on Scissor & Thread, and the recent A/B side on Domino, I Ain’t Gonna Be The First To Cry / Grace.
The band have also shared the video for single ‘I Ain’t Gonna Be The First To Cry’. Directed by Gene Doe, the video is an evocatively filmed meditation on youth and beauty, and can be watched below. The ethereal, dreamlike quality of the video is accentuated by the rarely used “slit scan” filming technique famously used in 2011: A Space Odyssey during the “star gate” sequence.
Ahead of the release of his forthcoming album, Gliss Riffer, out February 23, 2015, Dan Deacon has shared 'Learning to Relax.' Listen to it below. It follows the release of the Andrew Jeffrey directed video for Gliss Riffer opening track 'Feel The Lightning.'
"Learning to Relax", a live favorite that took shape while being performed on the road last year in support of Arcade Fire, is yet another exploration of Deacon's newfound appreciation of tracks featuring predominate vocal melodies. It's one of the many songs on Gliss Riffer reveling in equal parts exuberant uncontained good times as well as dramatic flair. The same could be said for the "Learning to Relax" animation created by Alan Resnick, as described by the creator himself: "Two parallel columns of cubes are colored with complementary gradients. The cubes oscillate at faster and faster rates, which create the optical illusion of color mixing within elaborate visual patterns."
Deacon has also announced a North American April/May 2015 tour that will follow his London show at the Islington Assembly Hall on February 16th. Dan has also announced that he’ll be playing a special Boiler Room show in London next Tuesday, February 17th. Watch a live stream of the show from 19:00GMT / 14:00EST HERE. All tour dates are listed below.
A special pre-order is available now through Domino Mart that includes a limited edition red color vinyl (now SOLD OUT) and a limited edition 12” inflatable hand that features the Gliss Riffer hand from the album cover. Order it now from the Domino Mart and receive an instant download of ‘Feel the Lightning’ and ‘Learning to Relax.’
