When it was announced just over a week ago that David Lynch was releasing a single called 'Good Day Today' on Rob Da Bank’s label Sunday Best, to say that the news happened to come completely out of the blue would be something of an understatement.

Keeping in mind that David Lynch is the surrealist genius behind film masterpieces such as 'Blue Velvet', 'Mulholland Drive' and 'Twin Peaks', possibly one of the finest TV shows ever created and the one thing that’s ever made us fear the name Bob', the fact that the single release happened so spontaneously and appeared to emerge from the ether probably makes a lot more sense once you process it.

Anyway, aside from collectively being big fans of the man, the reason why we’re telling you about all of this is because our own Jon Hopkins has remixed the single which is being released on 31st January on two heavyweight 12″s as part of a deluxe vinyl edition alongside other remixes by Underworld and Skream. Following his work this year with Brian Eno, a tour with Four Tet and his soundtrack work for acclaimed sci-fi film ‘Monsters’, we’re beginning to suspect the man never sleeps, and may in fact not be human at all.

It goes without saying that this is going to be a very special release, so make sure you pre-order the record here to guarantee you don’t miss out.

Also, if you haven't yet heard Jon's soundtrack for 'Monsters' you can order it here.
