The Kills - Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart - will celebrate 10 amazing years with the release of the beautiful new single ‘The Last Goodbye’ on 13th February 2012. They also premiere the video for the track today with Nowness. Directed by the Oscar nominated actress Samantha Morton, acclaimed for her directorial feature debut ‘The Unloved’, this is her very first music video. Shot in monochrome on crisp, silvery 35mm, the video reflects the beautiful simplicity of the track, with an old-school photo booth providing an intimate backdrop for Mosshart's intense and heart-warming opening performance followed by a series of touching to-camera poses reflecting the musicians’ longstanding, spirited friendship.

"It was an honor to work with Samantha Morton on this Casablanca-esque, silent-film-esque, Americana photobooth Woolworth's hay day period piece of surrealism/ realism/ story time tell-tale-ism, black and white 35 mm film, washed in strange light, over this love hate tune, heartbreak song, life-goes-on lullaby, The Last Goodbye. It's a doorway into the future of the fatal past-tense. Get it?"  Alison Mosshart

“I love the fact that when you used to go to a photo booth, you used to have wait sometimes a good twenty minutes. It could be 8 minutes, 9 minutes. Sometimes, I remember, if they were really crap, you'd have to wait forever and you'd go off for a cup of tea and you'd come back to get your passport pictures and they were there. Also, it was quite expensive when we were young. It was like a real treat but now, it's still expensive but you just get these crap images of yourself. They're just horrible and they won't last in the same way. So in a way a think the song was incredibly nostalgic and I think made me feel nostalgic.”  Samantha Morton

‘The Last Goodbye’ is the fourth single to come from the duo’s critically acclaimed fourth LP ‘Blood Pressures’. The track was described as ‘Alison Mosshart summoning up the ghost of Patsy Cline for the sultry Last Goodbye’ by the Guardian.

February 2012 marks 10 years of The Kills. The band started life on February 14th 2002, with a show at the 150 capacity Bar 12, London. Four albums later the band are now playing venues such as the 5,000 capacity Brixton Academy and festivals all over the globe. The anniversary will be marked with a very special gig at New York’s Terminal 5 on February 11th.

2011 was a groundbreaking year for Alison and Jamie. Following on from their sell-out show at Camden’s Roundhouse, the band went onto a critically acclaimed world tour that saw  them play across the UK, US, Europe, Japan, Australia, South America and Mexico. Highlights included sets at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Fuji, Glastonbury, Hyde Park Calling and the Reading & Leeds festivals, plus a special invite from David Lynch to play his Club Silencio in Paris last month.

‘Blood Pressures’, released earlier this year, finds The Kills delivering their vivid and uniquely gritty post-blues, but with a new level of thoughtfulness and depth not yet explored by the duo. An album tinged with wistfulness and vulnerability, it has an enduring sense of intricacy and richness that intensely blends with their ever-compelling songwriting.
