MALACHAI set to unleash ‘Ugly Side Of Love’ on 19 April 2010 on Double Six
The album is preceded by single ‘Snowflake’ on 12 April
“Malachai are into everyone from Public Image Ltd to Tricky; from Morricone to UNKLE; and from Bushkiller to Boards of Canada - which is possibly why everyone from Annie Mac to Gilles Peterson are into Malachai” – The Guardian
On 19 April 2010 Domino imprint Double Six are to release the ‘Ugly Side of Love’ album by “stand-alone Bristol sensation” (Mojo) Malachai.
Initially released on Portishead’s Geoff Barrow’s Invada label (under the band’s old name Malakai) last year, the 13 track album will be preceded by the band’s debut radio single for Double Six ‘Snowflake’, which is set for release a week earlier on 12 April.
You can listen to or download the album track Fading World right now for free, here.

"Malachai mix Love-style garage psychedelia and trippy samples with modern production savvy. The result is catchy, off-kilter backdrops for vocals that are a clear tribute to Horace Andy. Think Mellow Gold-era Beck crossed with the Kinks." -- The Observer

Steve Mason | 03/02/10
Having recently signed to Domino imprint Double Six, Steve Mason has announced the release of his new album, Boys Outside, on Monday May 3rd 2010.
The 10-track album was produced by Richard X and Steve Mason. The album will be preceded by a single, Lost & Found, on April 19th.
The full tracklisting for the album is as follows:
1. Understand My Heart
2. Am I Just A Man
3. The Letter
4. Yesterday
5. Lost & Found
6. I Let Her In
7. Stress Position
8. All Come Down
9. Boys Outside
10. Hound On My Heel
Very much indicative of the fragile, stripped down, haunting sound of the album, All Come Down was released as a download only single in December of last year and was roundly praised for it’s beauty and simplicity drawing numerous comparisons to his early work with the Beta Band on the 3 EPs album.
All Come Down is still currently available as a free download here.
Having previously recorded as both King Biscuit Time and Black Affair, both largely electronic based projects, Steve Mason enlisted the help of producer Richard X and consciously made a decision to go back to basics; the album was written entirely on acoustic guitar with many of the finished tracks stripped back to reveal his undoubted songwriting talent. Live shows are planned for 2010 after the album release.

To Rococo Rot | 22/01/10
Set for release on 29 March 2010, Speculation is the new, perfectly titled, To Rococo Rot album, recorded in part at Faust’s studio at Scheer.
To Rococo Rot, the trio of Stefan Schneider and brothers Robert and Ronald Lippok, arrived just over a decade ago at the point where digital precision and instrumental abstraction were harnessed into new directions in contemporary music, detached and accessible. Their early albums, Veiculo and The Amateur View, spoke in the future imperfect tense, highly complex but concentrated sound happenings.
On Speculation the language, unembellished in character, has changed. This is a record that celebrates uncertainty. Driven by the sound of fingers on instruments, pushing and weaving between the electric pulse, Speculation bathes in a midpoint between propulsion and letting go.
To celebrate the release, the band are giving away a free MP3 of "Working Against Time", sign up below for your free track and to be kept informed on all things To Rococo Rot.
