Longstanding German duo Mouse on Mars are celebrating their 21st year confusing listeners worldwide, and have some big plans for the celebration.

Along with Indiegogo and German filmmakers Kaliber16, the two surrealists have put together a campaign to rustle together funds for a documentary – entitled 21 Again – that will span Mouse on Mars’ long history, and we’re all for it.

From their comedic Vulvaland back in 1994 to their more recent flirtations with footwork and dubstep on Spezmodia, Andi Toma and Jan St. Werner’s peculiar experimentations with electronic music have dragged them through genres, trends and decades kicking and screaming. A career-spanning documentary feels like it could shine a welcome spotlight on one of the genre’s most unpredictable acts, and the filmmakers plan to splice together an enticing selection of rare footage and full interviews with Matthew Herbert, Tyondai Braxton, Mark E. Smith, Tortoise, Stereolab, Markus Popp and plenty more.

As expected, those who donate money to the campaign can expect a selection of goodies, from postcards, downloads and DVDs all the way to an actual producer’s credit on the film.

You can check out the campaign here, and don’t forget take a look at Mouse on Mars’ recent (brilliant) encounter with FACT TV.
