Junior Boys | RUG237 | Released: 14/08/06
Having torn up the rule-book with the robotic, hypnotic blue eyed soul meets R&B of their critically acclaimed debut 'Last Exit', Junior Boys' Jeremy Greenspan and Matt Didemus return with a new double A-side; 'In The Morning' /'The Equalizer' taken from their new album So This is Goodbye. House references now are everywhere, particularly evident on 'In The Morning'. Jeremy's yearning vocals weave between the tumbling arpeggiated synths and chiming guitar. Melancholic chords add atmospherics and shuffling percussion. Glaswegian minimal maestro Alex Smoke provides a suitably stripped down version, teasing out the vocal amidst a host of glitches, clicks and cuts. 'The Equalizer' boasts a sensual saw toothed bassline punctuated with metallic claps, glacial keys while Jeremy opines; ''Springtime / your gonna wish that we were friends'' Morgan Geist lends his mercurial remix touch to the track for an utterly sublime overhaul - adding the distinctive Metro Area dance-floor punch and respectful synth flashes.
