Max Tundra | RUG112 | Released: 01/01/00
I read somewhere that Ink Me is trip-hop, but I think it might actually be closer to hopscotch, with Max fantastically contorting his frame around a chalk-marked playground and having to pick up random ideas, sounds and instruments on the way, that he must then turn into a 'song'. Max of course carries it all off with some aplomb, as you'll of course know if you're already thrilling to the outre-pop sounds on his Some Friend You Turned Out To Be album. Comes with the rather more wistful Tell It To My Heart, and Ignition which is apparently Max's cooker playing tribute to Pole's minimalist soundscapes. The cds comes with the 'Ink Me' video, best thing I've seen in years, and probably the best thing you'll see too.
