'Love Is A Deserter', takes the mutant disco sound they developed on 'The Good Ones' even further, with Alison and Jamie aiming for what they describe as ''the low end of Giorgio Moroder''. Inspired by one of Jamie's journal entries, the song takes 'love versus passion' as its theme. As Jamie explains, ''people talk about love being the most important thing in the world but it's kind of overrated. The more you love something, the more you hold it in front of you, the more nihilistic you become. But passion is something that drives you, it's always there''. On 'Love Is A Deserter', ''a Moroder throb dovetails with jagged guitar chops'' says Uncut, and unsurprisingly, the song has proved a highlight of The Kills current live set.
